22. Hydration High

Simply Living Healthy – 40 tips in 40 days

Did you know that the number one reason people in western society get headaches is due to dehydration?  Cramping in pregnant women – dehydration. Not getting an A on the exam – dehydration not studying.  Okay so it’s not the solution to all life’s problems but it will make your body function better.  It will also make you feel better, even if you don’t notice it – because you generally only notice when something is wrong.

8 glasses a day is standard.  Drink at least one with every meal, and one with every snack and you have done 6 already! (Eating like a bird…my past blog post about consuming 3 meals and 3 snacks daily.)  If you are like me, your glasses at home aren’t the 8oz (or 1 cup measurement) kind.  Mine hold 12oz. Which bumps me up past my 8 required cups a day easily.

Hunger is also often confused for thirst in our society.  Which is odd.  At what point did we start to ignore what our body was communicating to us?  The next time you feel a hunger pang, try a glass of water first.  It’s easy, its free and its available anywhere.  And forget the bottled water, go for the fountain (makes for a MUCH happier planet and wallet).

    • Vinny,
Thanks for reminding me, I think I’ll start adding it to my water as well. Lemon is also a great detox for your liver – and provides an immune boost of vitamin C! What a fabulous way to start the day.
